Afghanistan, 1966 - 1974 by Kenneth Wrye and MaryLynne Wrye
This is the story of the rise and fall of the only Christian church ever built on Afghan soil. Interspersed are my present-day memories from working with Afghan refugees on the island of Lesvos, Greece. All of the photos were taken by my father in Afghanistan during the time that we lived there.
I am indebted to my father and mother who were willing to put details of several momentous years of their younger lives into this publication. They are the hull and rudder.
I also want to thank Alison Terry Evans, the Founder of Dirty Girls of Lesvos. She is the mainmast and sail, generously sharing with me her day to day work with refugees detained on Lesvos.
And to Kris Graves who stood by me for the six years it took to complete this, I am truly grateful. He is the compass.
All in all, there was no leaving the shore without them. + MaryLynne Wrye
